     Holidays are here! In preparation for the impromptu get together I am arming myself with a few jackets and adding a sleek heel.  I will keep it simple with basic black and a bold color, which will transition my look from day to evening effortlessly!

Weekend Get Away...

     Enjoying the end of the fall season with a weekend trip to Rochester, NY.  We arrive in the Village of Pittsford, NY along the Erie Canal.  There was a snap of cold air but the skies were glorious!

This week's obsession...Boucle Coat!

     I love all things furry and fuzzy.  It might be all too girly, but oh so much fun! This week my new obsession is this amazing reversible, boucle coat!  Although the coat reverses to a low pile puffer coat it is the boucle, which has me in love.  The curly, knobby and furriness of this coat has me all a flutter.

     I especially like the subtle pockets.  They are just enough to store your phone, key and a lipstick.

     The collar lends itself to endless possibilities.  I plan on adding a warm scarf, statement necklace, a large antique brooch or a vintage lurex scarf to showcase all the moods this unique coat can contribute to any occasion.

   This coat is definitely not shy but to me it brings a quiet sense of excitement!  Touchable and a party all wrapped up in a coat.  I like it!

A Tabard...

     A Tabard, who knew?  A tabard is an open sided smock, inspired by what was worn by medieval knights.  Intrigued by the "tabard" so, off I went on the hunt and found my tabard at White House | Black Market.

     The tabard is a new alternative to the oversize tunic and sweater to pair over our skinny jeans and leggings.

Mid-Week Get Away...Hoboken

      Last week we took a mid-week get away into Hoboken, NJ.  As a child I lived in Hoboken and whenever possible I love any opportunity to go back and walk the streets of this beautiful city.  Although it has been many, many years since I was officially a resident, I still consider myself a Hobokener at heart.  We spent a day taking in the sites, gazing out into the New York skyline and stopping along the way enjoying the endless restaurant options.

     It always seems too long before I get back to my beloved Hoboken.  This city provides you with endless options to relax, create new memories and enjoy yourself at every turn.

Autumn's Golden Glow...

     Although I would prefer it to be summer all year long, fall is also a very special season.  Fall weather reminds us of the warm summer days we have enjoyed but cools down just enough to prepare us for the cold days, which lie ahead.  Although the glowing and radiant sunsets are majestic, fall means much more to me, it is the season when I began dating my husband.  This October marks the 36th anniversary of our first date.  So, to me fall is not only a change in season it is about a romance and celebration of a first date anniversary which mark the beginning of our future together.

Wedding Attire...

     On a rainy stormy October afternoon, we attend our nephew and his beautiful bride's wedding.   On the days leading up to the big event, I invest some time and make a decision on what to wear for the happy event.  This time around I shopped my closet and reworked a classic ruffled collar Lafayette 148 sleeveless blouse with a full bell shaped skirt.  I paired it with a doubled sided triangular shaped shawl with tassels on all three points, which I have had over 20 years.  The accessories were all vintage along with my Badgley Mischka crystal brooch shoes.  To my delight I was comfortable and felt a sense of accomplishment recycling what I already owned.

     Somehow we as a family attended with a black, white and grey ensemble story.  In as much as I would like to take credit for coordinating the family, it all came together very naturally.   So, is style innate?  I vote YES!

The "LBD"...Little Black Dress

     The "LBD", no this is not a new texting acronym... "LBD" or the Little Black Dress. When you think "LBD" the silhouette which comes to mind is the classic sheath design made popular in the late 1920's. Over the years various interpretations of the "LBD" have been embraced.  The most celebrated "LBD" is the iconic dress designed by Givenchy, and worn by Audrey Hepburn in the movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.
